Vladimir Putin met with champions and prizewinners of the XXVI World Winter Universiade that just took place in Trentino, Italy.
The President congratulated the athletes for their brilliant performance and wished them every success in the future. Vladimir Putin also thanked everyone who contributed to the Russian team's victory – coaches, massage therapists, doctors, and professionals from different areas and fields.
A total of 1,698 athletes representing 50 world nations took part in the 2013 Winter Universiade. They competed for 78 sets of medals in 12 events. The Russian team came out first in the overall medal count winning 50 medals, including 15 gold, 16 silver and 19 bronze ones.
