Vladimir Putin congratulated speed skaters Viktor Ahn and Vladimir Grigoryev, who won gold and silver in the 1,000-metre short-track event.
The telegram to Viktor Ahn reads, in part:
“In the 1,000-metre short-track event you demonstrated unsurpassed skill; you were faster, stronger and more skilled than your competitors. One of the components of your victory was clearly the support of all your fans who cheered for you on the stands and who had faith in you.”
The telegram to Vladimir Grigoryev reads, in part:
“You withstood a true battle of personalities; you represented Russia with honor and strengthened the position of our team in the overall medal count.
