Mr Putin visited the Minsk Arena stadium, where Russia and Finland competed in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship final.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon also watched the match.
The final ended with a Russian victory.
