Vladimir Putin attended the Russian stage of the Formula One World Championship, which took place at the track in Sochi’s Olympic Park.
King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa also watched the race together with the President.
Mr Putin congratulated the Russian Grand Prix’s winners and presented the cup to British driver Lewis Hamilton, who took first place.
The President also visited the race’s control centre. President and CEO of Formula One Bernie Ecclestone told Mr Putin about how competition is monitored from the centre.
The Formula One World Championship is organised by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and is the most prestigious motor racing series in the world. This is the first time that Russia has hosted a stage in the championship.
