Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to Viktor Tikhonov’s family and loved ones.
The telegram reads, in part:
“Viktor Tikhonov – and outstanding trainer, mentor, and a strong, willful, honest and principled man – has passed away. He was a legend in Russian hockey and was endlessly devoted to his work and was therefore exceedingly demanding of his players and, first and foremost, himself. And this dedication led to great victories.”
Viktor Tikhonov, a Soviet hockey player and outstanding hockey trainer, passed away in Moscow after a long illness in his 85th year.
