Vladimir Putin congratulated judoka Beslan Mudranov on winning the gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in judo (60 kg weight category).
The President’s message reads, in part:
“It is with pleasure that I congratulate you on this triumphant performance that has won you a gold medal at Rio de Janeiro.
You displayed willpower, fortitude and skill in an uncompromising fight against experienced and renowned rivals and earned your place on the pedestal’s summit.
This victory is the first gold medal for Russia’s Olympic team and is therefore very important for our athletes and for all of their supporters, of course.”
