Vladimir Putin congratulated fencer Inna Deriglazova on her gold medal in the women’s individual foil event at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
The President’s message reads, in part:
“You performed with success at the London Olympics, but you did not rest on your laurels, trained hard, honed your skills and believed in your victory, and in Rio de Janeiro, you showed your superiority in an intense and thrilling fight with your distinguished opponent and won Russia’s first Olympic gold medal in the individual foil competition. Well done!”
