On August 22, an all-stars ice-hockey match was held in Sochi as part of a charity event. The game in the Shaiba Arena involved, among others, Pavel Datsyuk, Ilya Kovalchuk, Yevgeny Malkin, and Alexander Radulov. Vladimir Putin met with the hockey players.
At the end of the meeting, Vladimir Putin had a brief conversation with President of the International Ice Hockey Federation and IOC Executive Committee member René Fasel as well as the French alpine ski racer and six-time world champion Jean-Claude Killy.
