Vladimir Putin extended his condolences to the family and friends of Vladimir Shadrin on his passing.
The message reads, in part:
“A remarkable athlete, a true hockey legend of our country has passed away. Vladimir Shadrin was known for his unbounded dedication to what he loved doing, to Spartak, for which he played throughout almost his entire career, to his comrades on the national team. We associate his name with the most vivid, unforgettable pages in the history of our famed “Ice Squad,” its triumphs and achievements.”
Two-time Olympic champion, holder of five World Championship titles and three-times champion of the USSR with Spartak, Vladimir Shadrin passed away on August 26, at the age of 73.
