Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the participants and guests of the National Sports Award ceremony.
The message reads, in part:
“The winners of this distinguished award – remarkable athletes, coaches, members of the [sports] federations and the media – are outstanding, extraordinary and talented people, who have done a lot to develop our sport and strengthen its winning traditions. Their successes and achievements have set a high professional benchmark and clear objectives in life for young people; they serve as an example of diligence, determination and commitment to what they are doing; and they encourage young men and women to rise to new heights in sport and other activities.
I want to note that the government will continue supporting important and much-needed initiatives to promote the values of physical fitness and an active and healthy lifestyle in society, and we will continue to improve sports infrastructure in all regions across our vast country.”
