Vladimir Putin sent greetings to CSKA management, athletes, administrative and coaching staff, as well as the club’s fans on its 100th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“The rich history of one of the country’s most decorated sports clubs is tightly bound with the establishment and development of elite and mass sport, triumphs of our athletes at prestigious national and international championships and the Olympic Games.
Today we honour CSKA athletes of all generations – those who devoted their careers and lives to their club, set an example of dedicated, selfless service to their calling.
It is gratifying to note that CSKA representatives are among renowned leaders of both Russian and international sport. You always demonstrate outstanding preparation, unity, character and determination in beautiful and intense competitions, are worthy competitors of strong opponents in ice hockey and basketball, track and field and figure skating, martial arts and many other sports.”
