Dmitry Medvedev thanked Joseph Blatter and the FIFA Executive Committee for choosing Russia as host country for the 2018 football world cup.
Mr Medvedev said that football’s numerous fans around the world will not be disappointed. Russia will organise a championship of the very highest standards and make it the vivid embodiment of FIFA’s new vision for developing football throughout the entire world.
Mr Blatter thanked the Russian President for his attention and said that the choice of Russia as host country fits completely with FIFA’s policy. Mr Blatter called the decision a big event and said that FIFA is very confident about its future cooperation with Russia on organising the world cup.
Mr Blatter also passed on his congratulations and best wishes to the Russian people.
