Meeting with leader of the A Just Russia faction in the State Duma Sergei Mironov

July 29, 2015, Novo-Ogaryovo, Moscow Region

Vladimir Putin met with leader of the A Just Russia faction in the State Duma Sergei Mironov.

Providing benefits to some groups of the population, problems with loans, and issues concerning the housing and utilities sector were among the subjects discussed.

Mr Mironov said that A Just Russia will put forward an initiative at the State Duma’s autumn session to support the ‘wartime children’ – people who were children during the 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War. Mr Mironov said that 18 regions have already passed regional laws on benefits for people in this group, and a further 10 regions will pass such laws by the end of the year.

Regarding loans, Mr Mironov said that more than 40 million people in Russia have borrowed money, and many are having problems with paying them back. Mr Mironov proposed setting in law an interest rate of no more than 30 percent on microcredits.

Mr Mironov also briefed the President on A Just Russia’s international activities, noting that his colleagues in Europe are active in their contacts and support lifting the sanctions against Russia. Mr Mironov said that this indicates change in the international situation.

In particular, Mr Mironov spoke about his recent trip to Brussels and meeting with Knut Fleckenstein, a member of the European Parliament from the Social Democratic Party of Germany, and the visit to Russia by member of the Bundestag’s committee on foreign affairs and member of the ruling Social Democratic Party of Germany Franz Thonnes.

Mr Putin met with Mr Mironov as part of a series of meetings he is holding with leaders of the parties represented in the State Duma. Earlier, the President met with leader of the Communist Party Gennady Zyuganov and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
