Draft law prohibiting those convicted of extremist crimes from working with minors submitted to State Duma

October 11, 2011

Dmitry Medvedev submitted to the State Duma draft Federal Law On Amendments to Article 221 of the Federal Law On State Registration of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs and Articles 331 and 3511 of the Labour Code of the Russian Federation.

The draft law has been developed in execution of Presidential instructions following a meeting of the State Council Presidium held in Ufa on February 11, 2011.

The draft law provides for establishing a legislative ban for those convicted of or prosecuted for crimes related to extremism from working with children.

The introduction of such a ban will preclude unlawful campaigning and inducement of children and young people to commit illegal extremist acts.

The ban applies to employment in education and welfare of minors, the organisation of their leisure and recreation activities, healthcare, social protection and social services, sport, culture and arts.
