Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Lebanon on Transfer of Sentenced Persons.
The Agreement, drafted with due account to modern legal practices, Russian legislation and international standards in this area, was signed in Moscow on December 16, 2014 with the aim of developing the international legal base for cooperation between Russia and Lebanon on transfer of sentenced persons.
Under the agreement, the parties will, on a reciprocal basis and in accordance with the agreement’s provisions, transfer persons sentenced to terms of imprisonment to continue their sentences in their home country, which will help protect Russian citizens’ lawful rights and interests.
