The President signed Federal Law On Ratifying the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Argentine Republic on Transfer of Individuals Sentenced to Imprisonment to Serve Their Sentences.
The Agreement, drafted taking into account modern agreement practices, the Russian legislation and international standards in this field, was signed in Buenos Aires on July 12, 2014 with the aim of broadening the international legal foundation for Russian-Argentinian cooperation on matters of transferring individuals sentenced to imprisonment.
In accordance with the Agreement, the Parties undertake, on a reciprocal basis and subject to the conditions set forth in the Agreement, to transfer individuals sentenced to imprisonment to serve their sentences in their country of citizenship, which will help protect Russian citizens’ rights and lawful interests.
