The President signed Federal Law On Amendments To Articles 31 and 322 of the Federal Law On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation.
In accordance with the Federal Law, a decision on the undesirability of stay (residence) of a foreign citizen in the Russian Federation or a decision to deny a foreign citizen in detention a permission to enter the Russian Federation may be made not only by the Ministry of Justice but also by other authorised federal executive bodies. Such decision must be forwarded to a regional office of the Interior Ministry within three working days.
At the same time, the Federal Law invests the Interior Ministry with power to determine the procedure for deporting foreign citizens upon agreement with the relevant federal executive bodies.
