Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons.
The Federal Law ratifies the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons. However, a statement has been made that the Russian Federation will not apply the clause where the receiving party can request the sentenced person to reimburse all or part of their transfer costs.
The Agreement was signed in Moscow on September 26, 2017 as part of building an international legal framework for Russian-Lao cooperation on the transfer of sentenced persons, and will help protect the rights and legitimate interests of Russian citizens.
