Law On Ratification of Second Additional Protocol to European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters

Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law On the Ratification of the Second Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters.

The Second Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters was signed in Strasbourg on December 1, 2017.

The Russian Federation signed the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters and the Additional Protocol to it on November 7, 1996, and ratified them on October 25, 1999.

The Second Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters is intended to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms by improving on and supplementing some provisions, in particular, by broadening the range of situations in which mutual assistance may be requested and making the provision of legal assistance in criminal cases easier, quicker and more flexible.
