Congratulations to police officers and veterans on their professional holiday

November 10, 2010

Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Russia's police force and veterans on their professional holiday, Police Day.

The message reads, in part:

“You devote your careers to defending constitutional order and ensuring a calm and decent life for our people. Your work requires great responsibility and involves danger and risk. We have every reason to be proud of our police officers, who fight crime courageously, stand guard over people’s lawful rights and interests, and serve their cause with honesty and dedication.

The current reform of the Interior Ministry system sets you new tasks and missions of great importance. The broad discussions of the draft law On the Police Force showed that society has great expectations from you in combating crime, extremism and corruption, and hopes that the police force will be up to the present day requirements and that your operation will become more effective and open.

I am confident that you will do everything necessary to ensure reliable protection of personal rights and dignity, strengthen law and order, and raise the police force’s prestige.”
