Vladimir Putin congratulated present and former mining and metals sector workers on their professional holiday, Metalworkers’ Day.
The message said, in part:
“Russia’s mining and metals sector has always been known for its top-level specialists and true professionals who know and love their work. You can be justifiably proud of the industry’s glorious history, achievements and successes, and, of course, of the many generations of your predecessors, whose labour and talent developed our country’s rich natural resources and built strong foundations for developing our economy and strengthening our defence capability.
Today, you have big, multifaceted tasks before you, above all, radical modernisation of the industry and large-scale introduction of advanced energy-saving and environmentally friendly technology. Naturally, you must also give priority attention to training competent, professional personnel and creating modern jobs.”
