Vladimir Putin congratulated coal industry workers and veterans on Miners’ Day.
The message reads, in part:
“Mining work requires not only the highest level of professionalism, but also special personal traits like stamina, tenacity and a readiness to help comrades. This work has been highly esteemed and respected throughout society. You can rightfully be proud of belonging to this strong, cohesive team with wonderful professional traditions that are passed on from generation to generation. And, of course, you can be proud of the enormous role your industry plays in our nation’s socioeconomic development and implementation of its rich commercial and industrial potential.
I am confident that by relying on your accumulated experience and responsible approach to your work, workers in the coal industry will continue to worthily address the challenges before you in the interest of Russia and its citizens.”
Miners’ Day is the professional holiday for miners and is celebrated in Russia and other nations in the post-Soviet space on the last Sunday in August.
