On April 3, Vladimir Putin will take part in the opening ceremony of the Mercedes-Benz assembly plant in Smart Park Yesipovo in the Moscow Region.
The President will be shown around the production line based on the full-flex assembly and Industry 4.0 technologies that enable multiple vehicle architectures to be produced on one assembly line.
Construction began on June 20, 2017 in accordance with the special investment contract (SPIC) signed in February 2017, under which the tax rate for the plant will remain the same throughout the length of the contract.
SPICs also include a provision on the “non-increase of total tax burden,” which ensures commercial stability. Mercedes-Benz has invested 250 million euros in this project.
The plant can produce 25,000 vehicles a year and can employ over 1,000 workers during full capacity operation. At present, some 30 percent of the plant’s personnel live in the nearby towns and villages.
The training of personnel for the plant has been organised at the Podmoskovye College with assistance from the regional authorities. The students will take part in the opening ceremony.
