Greetings on Shipbuilder's Day

June 29, 2021

Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the current and former workers of the national shipbuilding industry on the occasion of Shipbuilder's Day.

The message reads, in part:

“This professional holiday is marked by representatives in a whole range of occupations – those who work at shipyards and docks, design bureaus and research centres, who make a significant contribution to strengthening Russia’s economic and defence potential.

Created by Peter the Great, the regular Russian navy, which turns 325 this year, has earned Russia the status of a great maritime power and created enormous opportunities for the development of new lands and the advancement of science, industry, trade and infrastructure.

At present, the enterprises in the industry, including those owned by the United Shipbuilding Corporation, are successfully carrying on the work of their predecessors. Russian shipbuilders are working to introduce new production technologies and are capable of implementing projects of almost any complexity – from building various classes of warships to creating modern civilian products. The output of tankers, bulk carriers, fishing vessels and offshore platforms is growing every year. It is gratifying that our shipbuilders’ projects are unique and have no analogues in the world. Our diesel and nuclear icebreakers are reason for special pride, navigating through ice-covered waters of the Arctic, as well as the world's first floating power plant Akademik Lomonosov and the Vityaz-D Autonomous Underwater Vehicle.

I am aware that behind all the achievements of the industry is the daily painstaking work of thousands of teams, highly qualified specialists, scientists, designers and workers, your experience and dedication.”
