Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to current and former workers of Russia’s mining and metals industry on Metallurgist’s Day.
The message reads, in part:
“In our country, the mining and steel industry is deservedly considered one of its core and fundamental economic sectors. The highly skilled and well-coordinated work of miners, ore enrichment specialists, steelmakers, rolling mill operators, and other professionals is essential for fortifying the country’s domestic industrial and defence potential, as well as maintaining the nation’s industrial power.
Today, despite serious challenges, you carry on the remarkable professional traditions of your predecessors, while never forgetting the importance of achieving your objectives. It is important to introduce, without losing pace, advanced environmental and energy efficiency standards, boost product competitiveness, and enter new markets. And obviously, we must also give the necessary attention to ensuring social benefits for the industry’s current and former workers.
I am confident that moving forward you will continue achieving your goals for the benefit of Russia.”
