Dmitry Medvedev submitted to the State Duma draft Federal Law On Amendments to Articles 73 and 81 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
The adoption of this federal law will increase the effectiveness of measures to fight terrorism and extremism, and avoid high concentrations in correctional facilities, primarily in troubled regions, of prisoners convicted for crimes that represent a grave danger for society.
The changes relate to the service of a sentence in a correctional facility by those convicted of involvement in armed groups not provided for by federal law, and for organising extremist networks and organisations.
