Condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

August 21, 2016

Vladimir Putin sent his condolences to President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan in connection with a terror attack in Gaziantep which killed dozens of Turkish civilians.

“The evil act committed in the midst of a wedding celebration is shocking on its cruelty and obscenity. We have witnessed yet again that terrorism disregards not only the law of civilised society, but also the foundations of human morals,” the Russian leader noted in his message.

The President stressed that the attack was another reminder of the need for a real joint effort from the entire international community in fighting terror, and reiterated Russia’s readiness to engage in comprehensive anti-terror cooperation with its Turkish partners, including cooperation within the framework of the recent agreements in St Petersburg.

Vladimir Putin conveyed his sympathy and support to the victims’ families and friends, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
