Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law On Ratifying the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and on the Financing of Terrorism.
The convention was signed on behalf of the Russian Federation in Strasbourg on January 26, 2009.
Ratification of the convention will enhance the effectiveness of interaction with foreign states in combating the legalisation of criminal proceeds and the financing of terrorism, create additional opportunities for developing international cooperation of competent authorities with regard to the detection, seizure and confiscation of proceeds from crime, and will strengthen the legal guarantees for such cooperation.
