Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Article 12 of the Federal Law On Countering Extremist Activity and to the Federal Law On Advertising.
The Federal Law envisages a ban on the use of information and telecommunications networks, including the internet, for pursuing extremist activity.
In particular, a ban is established on advertising in the information resources of foreign or international organisations whose activity is designated as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as public or religious associations or other organisations in respect of which a court issued a final and binding ruling on the liquidation or prohibition of activity, on the grounds provided for by the Federal Law On Countering Extremist Activity or the Federal Law On Countering Terrorism, as well as in other information resources access to which is restricted in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation on information, information technology and protection of information.
