Viktor Sadovnichy briefed Vladimir Putin on progress in implementing the Lomonosov Moscow State University development programme and its academic achievements.
In particular, Mr Sadovnichy talked about the unique new astronomical observatory in the mountains of Karachayevo-Circassia, the work of research satellites and the university’s powerful supercomputer, a project to create an MSU research and technology valley, and the “Noah’s Ark” project, which is a cryogenic storage depository for biomaterials, a kind of database of everything living on earth.
Mr Sadovnichy also talked about preparations for the university’s 260th anniversary, which will be celebrated at MSU on January 25.
