On the eve of Russian Students Day, Vladimir Putin visited the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (National Research University). This year marks MIPT’s 75th anniversary.

The President was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of MIPT Supervisory Board Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Maxim Oreshkin, Presidential Aide Andrei Fursenko, Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District Igor Shchegolev, and Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov.

MIPT Rector Dmitry Livanov briefed the President on the current activities of MIPT and its subdivisions.

During his visit to the university, Vladimir Putin was shown, among other things, the Metalion Plant’s pilot production floor with full production cycle for various types of batteries. The plant’s pilot production floor is the initial phase of a large-scale pilot production facility, the main phase of which will be launched this year.

The President also spoke with the students, postgraduates and their thesis supervisors, as well as graduates from previous years. Vladimir Putin also took part, via videoconference, in a ceremony to open new university campuses in Russian regions.
