Vladimir Putin signed a list of instructions following a meeting with designers of a new concept for a school textbook on Russian history on January 16, 2014.
The instructions to the Government and the Russian Historical Society concern in particular the final school examination procedures and the concept for a new school textbook on Russian history; organising cooperation between Russian and foreign teachers and scholars in order to work out objective approaches to assessing historical facts; and holding events to mark 100 years since the start of World War One and the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.
Separate instructions were given to the Education and Science Ministry and the Russian Historical Society.
