Vladimir Putin sent greetings to participants and guests in the first international forum of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) graduates entitled Together into the Future.
The telegram reads, in part:
“Today, the capital of Azerbaijan is welcoming Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) graduates from many nations around the world.
Over the last decades, MGIMO University has trained a whole series of brilliant professionals, highly educated and creative people, diplomats and politicians, statespersons and journalists, scientists and businesspeople. You are all united by very warm feelings toward your university professors, fellow students and your Alma Mater, which is rightly known for its traditions and atmosphere of student fellowship. And naturally, the university’s diploma always serves as evidence of in-depth and quality education and up-to-date knowledge, as they say, ‘at the international level.’
I will note that your excellent knowledge of the Russian language plays a major role in your career and personal successes. It is the official language of many prestigious international organisations and a unique communication tool for millions of people. I am confident that you will continue to promote the Russian language throughout the world. It is important that you maintain contact with one another, with your Alma Mater, which will be celebrating its 70th anniversary next year, and with our nation. Just remember that we will always think of you and be happy to see you again.
I am certain that initiatives such as this forum of MGIMO University graduates will enrich the palette of relations between our nations with human warmth and the joy of personal communication.”
