Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the faculty, students and alumni of the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography on its 95th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“Yours is one of the oldest and most respected film schools in the country. Talented professors, dedicated to their cause, true mentors have always worked here, teaching their students professional skills and creative freethinking. Among the VGIK alumni are outstanding filmmakers, directors, actors, animated filmmakers, cameramen, art critics and producers, who have made a significant contribution to the Russian culture and the development of the national film industry.
Today VGIK is among the leading education centres of Russia. Firm tradition and creative spirit multiplied by modern teaching techniques allow VGIK faculty members and students look to the future with confidence.”
