Russian Academy of Education Board of Trustees meeting

December 20, 2017, Moscow

The Russian Academy of Education Board of Trustees held a meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov.

The Board reviewed the implementation of the Russian Academy of Education’s 2017–2020 development programme so far this year. Academy President Lyudmila Verbitskaya delivered the keynote report.

The programme seeks to foster the development of the Russian Academy of Education as a leading international expert, research, methodological and educational centre. The programme is carried out with organisational, administrative and financial support from the Academy’s Board of Trustees.

The participants in the meeting also considered an array of measures to support and incentivise young researchers to work in education sciences.

Academy of Education Board of Trustees Chair Magomedsalam Magomedov noted the importance of preserving the best historical practices of organising the education process, as well as the need to ensure the continuity of traditions of Russian and Soviet schooling while modernising the education system.

The Board made the decision to institute annual awards for young researchers – winners of the Academy competition in education sciences.

In 2018, the Russian Academy of Education, which is a successor to the USSR Academy of Pedagogy, will mark its 75th anniversary. The Board will approve a series of academic conferences and roundtables, as well as official events, timed to coincide with the anniversary.
