The President sent greetings to the faculty, students, postgraduates, alumni and participants in the celebrations in honour of the 65th anniversary of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.
The message reads, in part:
“The rich history of your university, its high prestige in the national and international scientific and educational community is a matter of special pride for the university staff. Since its first days, the university has become a truly second home and a unique space of creation, friendship and mutual understanding for students who came to Moscow from Asian, African and Latin American countries to realise their creative potential, talents and abilities.
Over the past time, a whole galaxy of skilled specialists has emerged from the University, who are employed in public administration and mass media, economics and agriculture, medicine and law. I am sure that they have warm memories and affection as they recall the years of study at their university, their teachers and mentors, their faithful friends.
It is gratifying that University is developing dynamically and is always open for gifted and enterprising young people from Russia and other countries.”
Peoples' Friendship University of Russia is one of the largest Russian educational and research centres. Since its foundation, the University has been international in its activities: more than 500 representatives of ethnic groups from 160 countries study at the University.
