Dmitry Medvedev congratulated present and former officers of security agencies on their professional holiday, the Russian Security Agency Worker’s Day.
The message reads, in part:
“The history of domestic intelligence services, like the entire history of our nation, is rich in examples of true patriotism and selflessness. Security agencies have always played a key role in protecting national interests, eliminating threats to its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Current international trends and the emergence of new destabilising factors require effective counterterrorism and counterintelligence efforts, countering extremism and safeguarding the state border. It is also vital to gain new achievements in the fight against corruption and other relevant areas.
I am confident that security agency officers will continue to successfully meet future challenges, contribute to Russia’s modernisation and development, and protect the constitutional rights and lawful interests of our citizens.”
