Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law on Advanced Research Fund.
The law defines the Fund’s legal status, its powers and functions. The Fund’s main purpose is to facilitate scientific research and development in the interest of national defence and security.
The Fund’s main functions are to develop scientific visions of potential threats of critical importance for national defence and security, set the main directions of scientific research and development in high-risk areas in order to achieve qualitatively new results in producing high-tech military, special, and dual-purpose goods, organise the search for innovative scientific and technical ideas and design and technology solutions in the designated areas and contract their development, bring these ideas to project level, and finance the relevant measures and projects.
