June 5, 2013

Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to delegates of the XII conference of intelligence, law enforcement and security service heads of foreign partner agencies of the Russian Federal Security Service.

The message reads, in part:

“There is great need and demand today to strengthen international cooperation in fighting modern threats and challenges. The security and law enforcement agencies have a particular part to play in this work.

Using the latest technology and drawing on the substantial skills of your human resources, your agencies carry out dedicated, thorough work to detect and prevent terrorist acts and combat organised crime and drug trafficking.

Today, you will discuss a broad range of professional issues and map out common approaches to resolving priority tasks. It is essential that you always keep the future in sight, foresee the new threats and challenges that can arise, and be ready to take tough and effective preventive action.”
