Vladimir Putin congratulated current officers and veterans of Russia’s security agencies on their professional holiday, Security Agency Worker’s Day.
The message reads, in part:
“This is a day for all those who serve their Homeland honestly and faithfully, who protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and the tranquillity and safety of the people. Your job calls for specific qualities, such as high competence, staunchness, courage and readiness to withstand the most difficult trials.
The Russian security agencies possess great operational, combat and analytical capabilities and have proved their ability to tackle highly responsible assignments, the primary objectives of which are to protect Russia against external and internal threats, to combat international terrorism and extremism, organised crime and corruption and to protect the national borders.
I expect you to continue to work honestly, respect the traditions and commitments of your predecessors and act confidently to attain the goals given to you.”
