Presidential Executive Order No. 505 of August 9, 2020, endorsed the Russian Federation State Policy Strategy Regarding Russian Cossacks for 2021–2030.
The draft Strategy was reviewed and approved at a meeting of the Council for Cossack Affairs on November 19, 2019.
The Strategy is a strategic planning document in national security. It sets the Russian Federation state policy objective with respect to Russian Cossacks as assistance in consolidating Russian Cossacks, as well as in preserving, developing and using the Cossacks’ spiritual heritage and culture to fulfil their need to serve society through the formation of an efficient mechanism of engaging Cossacks in public and other service, and in participation in solving state tasks on the basis of public-private partnership for the sake of national security.
