Dmitry Medvedev congratulated current and former staff of Russia’s state security services on their professional holiday
The message reads, in part:
“You defend our national interests and ensure its internal and external security from potential threats. Your professionalism, courage and ability to react fast in a variety of complex situations is vital in many ways for Russia’s stable development and ensuring the calm and safe life of millions of our citizens.
Today you face the big task of addressing the challenges this new millennium and the fast-changing international situation have brought. This is above all effective counterterrorism and counterintelligence work, reliable protection of our state border, and fighting corruption and economic crime. You must use not only tried and tested methods in this work, but also be more active in using modern approaches and introducing new technology and personnel training methods.
I am certain that the security services officers will continue to fulfil their missions and build on the glorious traditions of their predecessors.”
