Third G20 summit has become an important milestone in overcoming global crisis.

September 26, 2009, Pittsburgh

The final communique of the summit specified that the G20 format is a major forum for international economic cooperation.

Dmitry Medvedev noted the significance of such a decision and the need to promote interaction between G20 and other nations.

The President of Russia stressed that Pittsburgh summit did not engage in generalities but instead reviewed most specific points, offered valuable ideas, and made crucial decisions.

Mr Medvedev supported the proposal for a macroeconomic policies monitoring to be applied to all G20 nations. If required, IMF and World Bank should with no delay or preliminary conditions financially assist the countries which in their policies observe the parameters set and approved by G20, he said.

A major result of the summit was the decision on a shift in IMF and World Bank quota shares to dynamic emerging markets and developing countries of at least 5% and 3% respectively.

The Pittsburgh communique underlined that the approaches designed by the London G20 summit have contributed to the global economic revival and should not be prematurely withdrawn.
