Vladimir Putin signed Executive Order On State Support Measures for Culture and the Arts.
Mr Putin ordered the establishment of presidential grants for culture and the arts in the aim of improving the state support system in these sectors.
The grants are for three years and will amount to a total of 2.994 billion rubles (around $96 million) a year, with the funds coming from the federal budget.
Recipients of grants in 2013–2015 will be decided by the President on the basis of a list submitted by the Government. Starting from 2016, recipients will be selected through a tender system.
The relevant instructions have been issued to the Government.
The list of recipients of the 2013–2015 presidential grants includes well-known ensembles, choirs, orchestras, theatres, and also educational establishments in the culture and arts fields.
