On June 5, Vladimir Putin will participate in unveiling a monument to prominent poet of Daghestan Rasul Gamzatov. The ceremony will take place in historic Yauzsky Boulevard of Moscow and mark the 90th anniversary of the poet’s birth.
The ceremony will be attended by relatives and friends of Rasul Gamzatov, Acting Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Federation Ilyas Umakhanov, Acting President of the Republic of Daghestan Ramazan Abdulatipov, state officials, politicians, artists, actors and admirers of the poet’s talent.

The initiative to install the monument belongs to Rasul Gamzatov International Public Fund. The team of the monument designers included sculptors Igor Novikov and Shamil Kanaygadzhiyev, and correspondent member of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexei Tikhonov.
