On October 2, Vladimir Putin will chair a meeting of the Presidential Council for Culture and Art in the Kremlin.
The Council's agenda includes preparations for the Year of Culture to be held in Russia in 2014, in accordance with the Presidential Executive Order of April 22, 2013.
Meeting participants will discuss the role cultural policy plays in reinforcing national unity, and particularly the role national culture plays in strengthening Russian identity. They will also attempt to clarify the priorities and principles of state cultural policy, which must correspond to key national development objectives and meet societal needs.
The speakers of both chambers of the Federal Assembly and Cabinet members have been invited to participate in the Council’s meeting.
