Vladimir Putin met with composer Alexandra Pakhmutova and poet Nikolai Dobronravov ahead of Ms Pakhmutova’s 85th birthday on November 9.
The President thanked Alexandra Pakhmutova for her work, her love for the country and for music.
Alexandra Pakhmutova is a Soviet and Russian composer, author of over 400 songs, many of which are popular all over Russia. She bears the titles of the National Artist of the USSR and Hero of Socialist Labour, and is a laureate of two USSR National Awards. The lyrics to many of her songs were written by her husband Nikolai Dobronravov, also a laureate of the USSR National Award.
Throughout her creative career Ms Pakhmutova has worked in different musical genres, creating compositions for symphony orchestra, cantatas and oratorios, ballet and film scores; but her songs have a special place in Russian culture.
