Greetings to V Festival of the World's Symphony Orchestras

June 2, 2010

Dmitry Medvedev sent his greetings to participants and guests of the V Festival of the World's Symphony Orchestras.

The telegram reads, in part:

“In the years of its existence, the festival has gained widespread international recognition and has become popular and reputed among classic music lovers in many nations.

This time again, famed symphony orchestras from Turkey, South Korea, India and China will perform in the Column Hall of Moscow’s House of Unions. Along with musicians from Russia, they will present the masterpieces of the European classics and introduce the audience to works by new generation composers.

I am confident that this V Festival of the World's Symphony Orchestras, an anniversary festival, will be a truly special event for music connoisseurs and will contribute promoting cultural dialogue between the East and the West.”

The Festival is taking place in Moscow between June 2 and June 11. Unlike earlier festivals where orchestras from Europe participated, the 2010 Festival is themed to facilitate dialogue between East and West. The four previous festivals hosted performances by celebrated orchestras from Germany, UK, Italy, France, Sweden and Hungary.
