Greetings to Theatres of Russia – to North Caucasus festival

June 7, 2013

Vladimir Putin sent greetings to participants, organisers and guests at the Theatres of Russia – to North Caucasus festival.

The telegram reads, in part:

“This festival of theatres from small Russian cities is a bright, ambitious and highly anticipated project. Thanks to the energy and enthusiasm of its creators, it is steadily advancing across the nation, introducing audiences to productions by Moscow-based theatres as well as equally interesting works by other creative teams, showcasing talent and new names in theatre. After all, the Russian provincial stage has always been rich with gifted actors and directors, original drama and fresh, unusual artistic decisions.

I am confident that this festival, which will be held in many cities in the North Caucasus, will bring joy to the region’s residents and their guests with striking premieres and encounters with recognised stars and luminaries of Russia’s theatre. I hope it will be remembered for its atmosphere of creativity and inventiveness, and will contribute to strengthening interethnic harmony, the spirit of trust and mutual understanding.”

The Theatres of Russia – to North Caucasus festival, organised by the State Theatre of Nations and featuring Moscow’s leading theatres, will be held on June 7–17 throughout the entire North Caucasus Federal District, visiting every regional capital: Vladikavkaz, Nazran, Nalchik, Cherkessk, Makhachkala and Grozny.
