Vladimir Putin sent greetings to participants, organisers and guests at the opening of the 12th Chekhov International Theatre Festival.
The message reads, in part:
“Your festival is very prestigious and is one of the biggest, most interesting and popular international cultural projects. Over the course of many years, it has served an important mission: it unites bright, passionate people who are sincerely devoted to theatre, engages new participants in creative dialogue and opens young talents – and with every year, it broadens its outreach. The best theatre troupes from Russia and other nations introduce spectators to global trends in the arts, show works by modern Russian and foreign playwrights, directors, and screenwriters.
I am confident that this year’s forum will contribute to further deepening of professional and friendly contacts, and will be remembered for its creative, constructive atmosphere.”
The Chekhov International Theatre Festival will be held in Moscow on May 13 through July 17, 2015.
